NIET’s Advanced Diploma in Children Services is specifically designed for early childhood professionals who have completed their Diploma of Children’s Services and is an opportunity to extend your existing expertise and focus your career. It is designed to further the leadership and management skills of those working in early childhood education and care settings. It is ideal for those who hold positions of leadership and responsibility or who wish to gain employment in these positions.
NIET aims to extend on the local community Children’s Services Industry with the provision of the Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services a customised course to ensure that it meets the needs of early childhood professionals in long day care, family day care and out of school hours (OSHC) settings. There are two streams of the course available with a choice between a management or inclusion support stream.
Work in the childcare field is both demanding and extremely rewarding. Desirable qualities for work are patience, understanding, imagination, cheerfulness, energy, adaptability, physical fitness and a willingness to take responsibility. The childcare industry is a growth area and demand for qualified childcare workers is growing.
This qualification is for workers in children services who are responsible for planning, implementing and managing programs in early childhood services, in accordance with licensing, accreditation and duty of care requirements. At this level, workers have responsibility for supervision of other staff and volunteers, and in most states it is the highest qualification required at director or service manager level for children’s service centre based care.

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a nationally recognised qualification – CHC60208 Advanced Diploma in Children Services
Study Mode
Classroom attendance – one evening per fortnight (5:30pm to 9:00pm) – 150 practical placement is required. Students will also be required to attend one Saturday workshop per term.
13 units must be selected for this nationally recognised qualification
7 compulsory units
6 elective units
Applicants will be required to wear uniform top and name tag (provided by NIET) and their attire should follow the dress code of the facility on practical placement days. Applicants will also be required to abide by the code of practice of the facility; this will be discussed with applicants upon registration (minimum 3 hour shifts).
Pre-Requisite
All participants must have completed the Diploma in Children Services CHC50908 or equivalent.
Participants may wish to apply for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) if they desire. Applicants are expected to be at senior management level or equivalent.
Position title will need to be given to NIET upon enrolment to determine suitability.
Assessment methods
Consist of written materials, workplace observation, reports and in class demonstration.

Participants have one (1) month from completion date of the course to submit their final assessments after this time re-enrolment is required and an additional cost of $750.00 is payable.
