Course Outline 2013

The TAE40110 is the new standard in becoming a qualified trainer! The TAE40110 Training and Assessment qualification specifies units of competency required to engage in training and assessment practices. A workplace trainer and assessor may workfull-time in these roles, or may be required to conduct training and assessment as part of a broader job role.

Study Mode 

Classroom attendance – one day per week for 14 weeks (both day and evening classes available).                     

There are no pre-requisites for entry into this course – approximately 6 hours per week of

homework/ study. Students are required to have access to a computer and the internet. 

Assessment methods 

Consist of submission of written materials,  questioning ,case studies, in classroom and or/workplace presentations 

Literacy and Numeracy Requirements 

Students undertaking the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment are expected to have

sound skills in Literacy and Numeracy. Students will need to:

  • Write effective assignments
  • Deliver oral presentations to different audiences
  • Produce quality documents such as assessment tools and student handouts
  • Conduct extensive research
  • Analyse a range of training, assessment and workplace documents.

Employment Prospects 

On successful completion of this program your will receive a TAE40110 Certificate IV in

Training and Assessment which may lead to work in a broad range of functions and activities

in VET. These can include roles such as a workplace trainers, workplace assessor, tutor,

teacher at TAFE or other Registered Training Organisations.

Purpose

The Certificate IV qualifies individuals who apply a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills in varied contexts to undertake skilled work and as a pathway for further learning.

Knowledge:

Graduates of a Certificate IV will have broad factual, technical and theoretical knowledge in a specialised field of work and learning.

Skills:

Graduates of a Certificate IV will have:

  • Cognitive skills to identify, analyse, compare and act on information from a range of sources
  • Cognitive, technical and communication skills to apply and communicate technical solutions of a non-routine or contingency nature to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems
  • Specialist technical skills to complete routine and non-routine tasks and functions
  • Communication skills to guide activities and provide technical advice in the area of work and learning. 

Application of knowledge and skills:

Graduates of a Certificate IV will demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills:

  • To specialised tasks or functions in known or changing contexts
  • With responsibility for own functions and outputs, and may have limited responsibility for organisation of others
  • With limited responsibility for the quantity and quality of the output of others in a team within limited parameters.

Volume of learning:

The volume of learning of a Certificate IV is typically 0.5 - 2 years. There may be variations between short duration specialist qualifications that build on knowledge and skills already acquired and longer duration qualifications that are designed as entry level requirements for work.

TAEDES401A Design and develop learning programsThis unit specifies the competency required to conceptualise, design, develop and evaluate learning materials as identified to meet the need for a group of learners, using appropriate criteria. Criteria may include endorsed competency standards and other specifications such as organisational performance standards, product equipment specifications and workplace procedures. 

TAEDES402BUse Training Packages and accredited courses to meet client needsThis unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use training packages and accredited courses as tools to support industry, organisation and individual competency development needs. 

DELIVERY SERIES: 

TAEDEL401A Plan , organise and deliver group-based delivery This unit specifies the competency required to plan and organise training for individuals within a group. 

TAEDEL402A Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplaceThis unit specifies the outcomes required to use work effectively as a learning process. 

TAEDEL301A Provide Work skill instruction This unit specifies the competency required to conduct individual and group instruction anddemonstration of work skills. 

BSBCMM401A Make a presentation This unit covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to prepare, deliver and review a presentation to a target audience. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement

This unit specifies the competence required to plan and organise the assessment process, includingrecognition of prior learning (RPL), in a competency-based assessment system. 

TAEASS402B Assess Competence

This unit specifies the competence required to assess the competence of a candidate. 

TAEASS403B Participate in assessment validation

This unit specifies the competence required to participate in an assessment validation process. 

TAEASS301B Contribute to Assessment This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to contribute to the assessment
